Farewell Post

This is last Blog entry I will post. I had hoped to end my blog on a good note with the Devils on their way to the playoffs. Unfortunately, this did not happen as the stinkin' rangers eliminated the Devils from potentially qualifying. The Devils play two more meaningless games. Tonight and Saturday will be this seasons last games. While I hope they play well, it is unlikely as they waved goodbye to the playoffs and have nothing to play for. In closing, Iwould like to thank everyone who read my blog regardless of wherever you may be. I also would like to thank Nick for an exciting in-class rivalry and I look forward to continuing it next season.

Thanks for reading this season,
A diehard Devils fan

Hell Freezes the Flyers

This game was especially meaningful because I had an invitation to attend. As a Devils fan, I was also invested more than normal because they had to win the game in order to remain as a possible contender for the playoffs. For two periods it was a nerve wrecking experience. My friend, Chris and I were at the edge of our seats waiting to see who would score the first goal. This season other teams have dominated with first goals and it was particularly satisfying when the Devils made that goal at during the second period. We then experienced heightened nerves while waiting to see if the Flyers would tie up the score. The heart stopping moment was when it appeared that the Flyers had scored a goal. However, the referees stated there was a distinct kicking motion and disallowed the goal. The video room upheld the call. During the third period the Devils broke out with 2 goals to lead the game 3-0.  My favorite moment was during the final two minutes, the Flyers' fans walked out en Mass when after the Devil's iced the game with an empty net goal. This is great news for the Devil's because they are still eligible to make the playoffs.

So, Nick, does it feel chilly in Philly?

Disappointed Devils

This has been a disappointing week for the Devils. They are now in 10 place after losing a string of games. This included a loss to the Boston Bruins on Wednesday. The Devils fell behind early in the game (4-0) and were not able to mount a successful comeback. Though they achieved four goals, they still lost 5-4. My prognosis is that there is a difficult road ahead for the Devils to qualify for the playoffs.

Devils' Defeat

This week marked a loss for the Devils that has pushed them out of the 8th seed. The Boston Bruins were able to overcome them 1-0 . Hopefully, they can recover when they play their next game. Let me know if you think the Devils can overcome this setback in the poll on the right.

Shut down by the Senators

On Monday night the Devils faced the the Ottawa Senators. The Senators were leading with one goal until the Devils tied in the 2nd period. Then the Senators jumped out in front with the Devils closely following for another tie in the third period. The Devils played hard but the Senators ultimately prevailed in the shootout. However, while this loss stings, the Devils remain in playoff position. This Friday they face the Tampa Bay lightning on foreign turf- let's hope the Devils don't get fried!

Split week for the Devils

The beginning of the week the Devils faced the Rangers. Unfortunately, the final goals were out of range for the Devils. With a 3-2 loss, the Devils fell to the ninth position in the eastern conference.  They needed to win Thursday night to be within the top 8 seeds. The next day they found out that Marty would return to starting goal. This special report was welcomed by fans, because the team had overall struggled without him in starting position. Rather than being blown away by the hurricanes again, the Devils weathered the storm with minimal damage. A 4-1 win meant that the Devils had returned to their previous position. The Devils play the Panthers on Saturday night. Prepare to be hunted!

Devils Fly away with a Win

Photo Credit: Ed Mulholland-USA TODAY Sports

On the evening of March 13th,  the Devils beat the flyers 5-2. The first period set up the rest of the game with three goals scored by the Devils. While the Philadelphia Flyers scored in the first and third period,  their two goals were not enough to recover from their sloppy playing. With this game and Sunday's win,  the Devils have now won two in a row and are tied for 6th place in the Eastern Conferance. It appears that the Devils are heading back to their winning ways.
